Two new laws went into effect July 1, 2014, and you need some new documents in order to comply with them.
First, make sure that you give out the revised Workers’ Compensation pamphlet containing the new predesignation regulations. As I informed you last month, effective July 1, 2014, new regulations change the employee criteria when predesignating a personal physician or medical group for work-related injuries or illnesses (includes two new forms). Employers are required to provide this pamphlet to new hires. You can download it here:

Second, make sure that you distribute the updated Paid Family Leave pamphlet containing the new family member definitions. Also effective July 1, 2014, a seriously ill “family member” is not defined to include a grandparent, grandchild, sibling or parent-in-law. Employers are required to provide this pamphlet to new hires and when employees take a leave of absence for a covered reason. You may download it here:
